The band have released three albums, played the Latitude, Swn, and Kendall Calling Festivals, received airplay on Radio 1, 6 Music and a host of stations across the UK and Europe and provided the theme tune for a French radio show.  Hawkins’ side project the Count of Chateau Noir has featured in the Festive Fifty, received airplay from Absolute Radio, featured on BBC Introducing’s Fresh on the Net podcast and been favourably reviewed in the Times.  In 2013 Hawkins had a book published about the dark, disturbing mid-European folklore that gave rise to Father Christmas.

As a disabled musician, Hawkins is passionate about improving access for deaf and disabled performers and gig-goers and for this reason the Awkward Silences provide captioned lyrics at all of their gigs.  You can read more about why they do this and how it works here.
